Looking Back: Peoria's Best Shows of 2016
As the summer concert season approaches, I thought now would be a great time to look back on the shows that made waves in 2016.
Last summer was impressive for the Heart of Illinois, locking up bigger groups and larger crowds. One of the most exciting shows I attended was The Way Down Wanderers' self-titled album release show. They drew one of the largest crowds I've seen at the CEFCU Stage, and both the band and the crowd was teeming with joy. It was definitely one for the books.
Another of the most memorable shows from 2016 was Umphrey's McGee's performance at Festival Park. Drawing a demographically diverse crowd, Umphrey's put on a great show, helped out by their always-flashy set design. They're a regular at Summer Camp, so if you have the chance, check them out at one of their three sets.
Lastly, this list would be incomplete without mentioning Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at CEFCU Stage. ESMZ is a group of phenomenal performers, always playing their hearts out. I don't think I'll ever forget when Alex Ebert hopped off the stage and climbed one of the trusses. Good times.
