Chris Stapleton Makes a Stop in Bloomington This Weekend

Grammy-winning artist Chris Stapleton is set to play U.S. Cellular Coliseum this Saturday night. We couldn't get tickets, but we're still excited.

The show will feature country artist Chris Stapleton along with opening act Lucie Silvas. Stapleton saw personal fame after the release of his debut album Traveller in 2015. An accomplished songwriter, he's written six number one hits and penned lyrics for musicians from Adele to George Strait.

With Stapleton being so critically acclaimed after one album, it's exciting to see him play the Heart of Illinois. When Peoria hosted Kenny Chesney in 2013, the reception was massive - I expect it to be similar on Saturday.

When artists such as Stapleton come to Central Illinois, it should be exciting for those attending the show, but also for residents of neighboring towns. I've seen many festivals (and regions, for that matter) work the music industry with an "if you build it, they will come" attitude - that's exactly what happened with Limelight. Peoria got the mid-sized venue it needed, and the number of shows started to increase. With U.S. Cellular hosting a sold out show for this Grammy winner, it could signal the music industry that the Heart of Illinois is more than ready to rock, if given the chance.
