Welcome to Take the Pulse
What's up everybody - my name is Mike Rundle, I am a co-creator of Take the Pulse, the Heart of Illinois' newest source for music news.
The creatives behind Take the Pulse - Ashlyn Kahl, Matthew Rundle, and I - were born and raised in East Peoria, Illinois and have been around music our entire lives. We're now in college, and the creative atmospheres we've been in have inspired us to create this blog you're currently reading.
Take the Pulse is a response to the lack of music news outlets and blogs in the Heart of Illinois region. I started hearing announcements for shows coming up this summer and realized that the area was starting to get bigger names to perform, which is great - but no one offers much coverage of the shows. My belief is that if we can show the community how great these events are, it can boost attendance and public morale in terms of the arts and culture of Peoria, Bloomington, and everywhere in between.
Although Central Illinois is going through a bit of rough spell, we still believe that it has the potential to be more than just a shell of the hopping cultural town it once was. There's a reason "if it played in Peoria" became a well-known phrase - because at one point in time, it did play in Peoria.
Our mission at Take the Pulse is to let the Heart of Illinois know what's happening, where it's happening, and how it's happening in the area's music scene. We believe that this region can get back on the road to revival. We have all the necessary pieces, they just need to be put in the right place - that's what Take the Pulse is here to do.
So, thank you for reading and thank you for your interest. All of us at Take the Pulse are ambitious and more than ready to get the Heart of Illinois back on the road to revival. We aren't temporary, we aren't a façade. We - Ashlyn, Matthew, and I - are young, inspired, and have a passion for music. Now, we can bring that passion to you.
